The Abkhazi Garden is an exquisite heritage
home and garden located in Victoria, British Columbia,
a city known for its wonderful gardens. Prince
and Princess Abkhazi began creating their garden
in 1946. This was the year they married and settled
in Victoria, after living separate lives touched
by both privilege and tragedy.
They immediately began to develop their one-acre
property, and continued to maintain and improve

Beacon
Hill Park & Petting Zoo |
Located just five minutes from downtown Victoria,
nature-seekers will enjoy the magnificent 74-hectare
(183-acre) park, featuring attractive flowerbeds,
small lakes, playing and sport fields, cricket
pitch, lawn bowling greens, wading pool, petting
zoo and lawns that slope to the sea.
Visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Olympic
Mountains. Located on the boarder of the park
is "Mile Zero", starting point of the
Trans-Canada Highway! Beacon Hill Park was the
site of a village that had been inhabited for
thousands of years prior to the arrival of the
colonial settlers in the 1840s.

Fifty-five acres of wonderful floral display
are open to the public, offering spectacular views
from the many paths that meander through the four
main gardens. In 1904, Jennie Butchart began to
beautify a worked-out quarry site left behind
from her husband's pioneering efforts in the manufacture
of portland cement.
The family's commitment to horticulture and hospitality
spans 100 years, and continues to delight visitors
from all over the world. From the exquisite Sunken
Garden to the charming Rose Garden, the gracious
traditions of the past are still maintained in
